The NYSC is a hang-gliding and paragliding club based in the North East of England.

We have a number of flying sites and regularly hold meetings where members and new pilots alike can come along and involve themselves in the friendly club environment.

The club requires ALL pilots flying club sites or landing in club landing fields to have membership of the BHPA or the equivalent international governing body membership providing a similar amount of 3rd party liability cover

Changes at Model Ridge

Update on work at Lord Stones Café & Model Ridge

Work is now well under-way with the re-development.

Fencing has been erected on the periphery of the site with trees being planted within these fenced
areas. This has inevitably reduced the “open” area to a small degree, but we still have more than
sufficient for our activities. New gates have also been installed to alter footpath access.

The amenities block is under construction and re-building has started in earnest on the existing café.

We have been advised the target completion date is end of August 2013

In the meantime we have been asked to maintain our commitment to the owner (Urra Estates) to
ensure several key concerns are properly managed.

The existing car park is closed to parking and should not be used as a pedestrian route from the road
to the site. Please continue to park responsibly and minimise damage to the verges.

There is NO unregulated flying allowed, i.e. ALL pilots (whether intending to fly, or simply
ground handling) are both NYSC members and fully paid up BHPA members (and be able to
prove such)

The owner has allowed us to continue to fly within these reasonable conditions and it is up to ALL
club members to ensure his stipulations are met.
