taken a couple of years ago now (Sept 2006) at a miserable 2700m amsl on a glide along the Avila valley (the deck here is at 1170m)after topping out just before crossing the pass at 4055m. Unfortunately didn't get photo at max height as I was having way too much fun to even think about getting my camera out. Actually, I was playing catch up after a tangle on take off put me 20mins behind everyone else as they left their thermal in front off take off. What a flight!PhilMac (2009/2/16 22:14:50)
Taken sept 2006. On glide to El Barco (opposite direction to "The Pass") at 3200m. Yes that white dot between my kness is the one and only Steve Ham who can squeek a low save from nowhere in this area.PhilMac (2009/2/16 22:26:22)

Well actually 11Km past El Barco and 4 Km before the Tornavacas "Cherry Tree" valley of no return. Our eventual field is ringed in the photo. Steve is the white glider low down near the road. I wondered why he was landing where he was, but thought it only polite to join him as it was only the two of us left flying. It all became clear however, as I finished packing up and walked across the road to join him outside of a solitary house which turned out to have a bar in it.
